CaribWorldNews, BROOKLYN, NY, Thurs. Dec. 3, 2009: A native of the Dominican Republic was yesterday found guilty of a 21-year-old Brooklyn murder.
Prosecutors say that in 1988 he opened fire on a rival drug dealer, killing him. A stray bullet then struck and killed a 15-year-old boy in the head.
Ramon Espinal was first found guilty of the killings of the two people in 1991, but the conviction was overturned because authorities say his attorney failed to properly defend the case.
He flew to his native Dominican Republic and was recently returned to face another trial. On Wednesday, Espinal was again convicted of 2 counts of murder in the shooting deaths.
Espinal faces 25 years to life in prison when sentenced on Dec. 21st.
