Billboard Reggae Chart

Jamaican-born artist,
Christopher Martin, has taken the number one spot this week on The Billboard
Reggae Chart with his album ‘And Then.’ The album was released May 3rd
and has debuted at Number One on The Chart. And Then is the follow up to
Martin’s debut full length-album, “Big Deal,” which reached the top 5 on the
Reggae Billboard Charts in 2017.

Shaggy, UB40To Play North Carolina

Grammy-winning star, Shaggy, will join UB40, featuring
Ali Campbell and Astro, in Greenboro North Carolina this September. Shaggy will
be a special guest on the “40th Anniversary Tour: A Real Labour of
Love” concert, set for the  White
Oak Amphitheatre of the Greensboro Coliseum on Sept. 13.

South Africa’s
Hyenah For USVI Performance

World renowned South
African electronic music maestro, Hyenah, who is known for his elusive
identity, top charting tracks on ‘Resident Advisor,’ and his performances at
top clubs across the globe, is set for make his debut performance in the USVI
tomorrow, Saturday, May 18th, 2019.

The event
is part of a benefit for music students at the University of The Virgin Islands
who were directly impacted by the disaster that is being presented by
Intellectual Global Concepts, (IGC), in collaboration with Title Sponsor Vaya,
along with The Coral Bay Caribbean Oasis, The RTPark, The University of The
Virgin Islands, (UVI); the US Virgin Islands Department of Tourism and
Grammy-Award winning Jazz Drummer, Dion.

 Additionally, the event will showcase USVI’s
own Cool Session Brass Band and the SHUT Down Band along with DJ Mike Swells of
NYC and local fire dancers and a drum circle.

The free event is set
to get underway at 5 p.m. on May 18th and run through 12:30 a.m. on May 19th at
the St. John Bayfront at The Coral Bay Caribbean Oasis, 10-41 Estate Carolina
in Coral Bay, St. John. Three free after-hour ferries will be available as well

This Reggae Star Releases A New Video

The new video for “Lights Out” by Grammy Award-winning
entertainer Estelle is out. The sultry reggae track is off of her 2018
album Lovers Rock.

Directed by Estelle and Denzel Williams, the video was filmed in
Australia and showcases Estelle in an intimate hotel room as she sings the
song’s flirty lyrics. Filmed with sensual lighting and a decadent aesthetic,
the visual perfectly matches the songs smooth and erotic vibe.

Prior to the release of “Lights Out”, Estelle recently completed
the West Coast leg of her ‘Estelle Experience’ tour with dates in Las Vegas,
Sacramento and Oakland following her East Coast run back in February where she
hit New York, Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta and Nashville.

Soca Star Patrice
Roberts For NYC

Soca superstar Patrice Roberts will
headline this year’s New York celebration of Guyana’s 53rd Anniversary of
Independence from June 2-3, 2019 in Brooklyn.

Other performers will include celebrated Guyanese
artiste Onyolla Phillips, aka “Stitchie The One Man Band,” Guyana’s Chutney
monarch Steven Ramphall, Guyana’s Calypso Monarch Kenroy Fraser – the Mighty
Believer, Carib Soca Monarch Brandon Harding, Soca Artistes Nessa Preppy and
Freezy; Guyanese-American Hip Hop artiste Lia Givenchy; Guyana’s soca monarch
runner-up Vintage, Trevon Vibez, Adrian Dutchin, chutney legend Terry Gadraj,
former calypso monarch Diana Chapman, rapper Kelsy More, gospel artistes Saiku,
dancer Jonnel Shury, reggae artiste Omaje, Mahindra Ramkellawan, dancehall

Vegas Taste of the Caribbean

The annual cultural and Southern Nevada’s
celebration of exquisite Latin, Caribbean, West Indian, diaspora cuisine, food
and music known as Las Vegas Taste of the Caribbean, is tomorrow Saturday May
18 in Las Vegas Arts District. The event features music and food from countries
including Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Barbados, Mexico, Dominican
Republic, Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, Guyana, Grenada, Dominica and the United
States including the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Celebrating its 4th year, the Taste of the
Caribbean is one local event that brings Latino, West Indians and Nevada’s
diaspora residents to celebrate the community’s presence, rich heritage and

Haiti and Guyana

A celebration of Haiti and Guyana is being
planned for Saturday May 25, 2019 at the L. Charles Gray Theatre at 190-04
119th Avenue in Saint Albans, Queens from 3 p.m.

Artists such as Shanto Rhythms featuring
master drummer Baba Mpho, aka Menes de Griot; Rick Dalgetty & Tropical
Rhythms; actor/writer Rudolph Shaw andfolklorists Marlon Jardine, Florence
Jean, Alla Lisa, Lisa Dole, Bo Manbo with Imamou Lele Dancers and Courtney Noel,
will perform.
